Interview with Siccness

Hip Hop I want you back.
....Yea I'm saying that Hip-Hop in not here like it used to be

Siccness, what's been up with you lately?
Just been grinding non-stop my G. Hustling harder and smarter, than most people's favorite rappers. Getting it in, each and every way possible.

Talk to me about your album "Bottom Line" and the story behind it? Well, the story behind 'Bottom Line', is that Siccness can spit, with the best of them and is about to make his presence felt in the Hip- Hop industry. I start the album off with the title track "Bottom Line" to show everybody that I mean business and I end it with "Shittin On Em" to show everybody what I plan on doing, and the direction that we went with for the album artwork was showing that I'm no longer Underground that I'm above the underground now and entering into the mainstream but I'm still with my ear to the streets hearing what the undergrounds saying.

"Dear Hip Hop" is a powerful song/video with a message which may 'ruffle a few feathers' among the Hip Hop community what do you think the response will be? Well so far the response has been great, because I was speaking the truth. For the most part people respect the truth. And by saying 'Dear Hip Hop I want you back', yea I'm saying that Hip-Hop in not here like it used to be, but there are a few artist that create good Hip Hop music but we don't know they exist because they are not getting any recognition through the radio, T.V., labels or A&Rs. And the only ones that are getting recognition are the skinny jean bubble gum pop rappers and what all of them are rapping about is bullshit. Which is not Hip Hop and that is the reason why I said 'Dear Hip Hop I want you back.' and if their feathers are ruffled by that, they can go tell someone who gives a shit, because I certainly don't.

How was it working with Epademik? It was great! Working with Ep, I learned a lot. Working with him turned me into an actual artist. I went from being another rapper who says I rap to actually being able to say I'm a Hip Hop Artist, and that felt good. And working with him ended up getting me my record deal with LRT/Universal Music Group because he got my music into the hands of Lisa Thomas who is CEO over at LRT and she heard the music which was all from my "I Am Siccness" EP and it was a wrap from there we set up a meeting and signed the deal.

How did you first start getting into rap? As far as what got me into Rap, I would say just having a love for all types of music in general and being a big fan of Hip-Hop plus it was also a way for me to vent and release any anger, stress, or frustration that I had inside.

How do you balance your music with other obligations? I balance it all out by just being real patient, organized, and focused, at times it can get real frustrating and shit will seem like its all a mess but in reality if you have patience and stay organized and focused you will be good.

Talk to me about some of your future goals. Some of my future goals are, first and foremost, to make sure my daughter's future is financially set so she does not have to want for nothing and by doing that I have to accomplish another one of my future goals, which is to make a history in the Hip Hop industry and getting cut a big check.

How does the rest of 2011 look? Any upcoming projects you can speak on? The rest of 2011 is looking good. I got a couple more videos planned out and my next one is going to be for my New single "Shittin On Em" which should be taken place within the next month and the video is going to be filmed by CG Films. I'm also going to be hosting a Coast to Coast Mixtape titled "How The West Can Win" and of course I'm making some guest appearances on a few other artist albums, and got some shows planned out of state and I'll be in the studio in between working on my LP and other stuff..

Tell us about your next show(s) and why we should be there. As of right now my next show is set for Las Vegas on October 9th at the Cashman Center for the Lowrider Tour Carshow. And the reason why you guys should be there is because it's going to be a great fucken show and it'll be my first show in Vegas and I got a really Dope performance planned for everyone, with a bunch of new merchandise, and promotional items.

Ten years from now you will be... and if you weren't doing music, how would your life look like right now? Grinding even harder than I am right now, because time doesn't stop for no one and I definitely don't know how to stop and if I was not doing music my life would definitely be a whole lot different. I most likely wouldn't have my daughter, because I actually met my baby's mother because she bought one of my albums from me, and since then we have all been together. So if I wasn't making music I'm sure my life would look a whole lot different from A-Z.
