Sue Bryant - Global Mix UP C.I.C.

Sue, tell me about Global Mixup, a non profit organisation and what you guys do there.
Sue: Global Mix Up was set up to get funding to help unsigned artists and young people channel their energies in to music and positivity rather than hanging round and getting in to trouble. The work we did was to build self esteem and encourage creativity, we work with colleges and youth clubs etc. That led to me trying to find outlets for unsigned artists.

You also teach artist about how to handle the industry, get artist radio play and my question is, why do you do this for free?
Sue: because when I started trying to find these things out for myself I found there was a serious lack of resources. I do it for free because I support unsigned artists and the whole independent music scene and have been involved in some way all my life either as a fan attending shows, buying CD's or like now doing what I do. I think enough people try to make money off unsigned artists as it is so I don't need to add to it. I guess it is just who I am, I love what I do.

What do you think we could do to get the artist to understand that they need to support eachother more and work together as everyone has the same goal.
Sue: We need to try and show them that in numbers we can have a voice. There are more unsigned artists than mainstream artists. We need to perhaps try and network among ourselves more to create a more powerful voice and lead by example.

Tell me about starting IMS and the services you guys provide and how interested parties can be contact you.
Sue: IMS the website is run by my friend Andre Hutson who set it up as a place for unsigned artists of all genres to have all their links, upload music, stream videos. The magazine is an offshoot of that. There will be mixtapes coming up of artists from the site. You can contact either Andre or myself about joining the site and/or being in the magazine.

What can Global Mixup and Rapsoulution do together, to improve the situation and help the indy artist network and unite to improve their situations.
Sue: I think you and i can work together by finding opportunities for unsigned artists and sharing them with each other. At the end of the day all we can do is make artists aware of opportunities, we can't force them to take advantage of them.
